From the Appenzell region

...at the foot of the Alpstein mountains, in the main town of Appenzell, the Locher family has already been brewing beer for its customers around the world for five generations. APPENZELL BEER stems from an intact culture and countryside. Brauerei Locher AG was acquired by the Locher family in 1886 and is nowadays the last remaining brewery in the Appenzell region. The family business, which still acts independent of the big breweries and multinationals on the Swiss beer market, is famous for its specialist beers.

For the good of the people and nature

Brauerei Locher AG is famous for specialist beers as well as traditional beers. The beers are still made by hand and in accordance with methods handed down through the generations, with special attention paid to the raw materials. Besides water, malt and hops are the most important ingredients for the beer. The brewery only buys raw materials that satisfy its high quality demands. Each year, our master brewer arranges the best types of malt and hops into special blends.
